In 2016, the creation of ClickUp in California represented a veritable revolution in the project management tools sector. Indeed, they overturned the balance and dethroned some of the major market players of the time. These included Monday, Notion, Trelloand Asana. With this new version, it looks like they're going to repeat the feat given all the resources allocated and all the new features to come!
As a reminder, ClickUp 3. 0 is an all-in-one digital workspace combining online task management, team collaboration, document creation, chat and governance by objectives. ClickUp 3.0 is a cloud-based collaboration and project management tool suitable for companies of all sizes and in all sectors. Features include team communication and collaboration tools, task assignment and status, alerts, time tracking, project dashboard and other task functionality. The tool is highly regarded in the industry thanks to its diverse features, including views, custom fields and software integrations.
This new ClickUp 3.0 generation is incredibly powerful, simple and ready to redefine everyday business productivity. What's new with ClickUp 3.0?
A completely new infrastructure has been built, bringing substantial improvements in reliability. The new architecture has been designed with infinite scalability in mind, and will support your growth.
The database was completely rebuilt on the basis of the three fundamental principles of : reliability, quality and performance for an efficient workflow. In addition, its architecture is now service-based. Here are just a few examples of the changes:!

ClickUp 3.0: Stunning design and an improved user interface
The new version of ClickUp 3.0 offers a more intuitive user experience with a clean, modern look. ClickUp has really emphasized simplicity while increasing the ease of interaction with all its components. The "signature" remains the same, but from a visual point of view, it looks more fluid and refined.
Better personal spaces with ClickUp 3.0
ClickUp 3.0 focuses on the user experience. This applies not only to the general shape of the software, but also to specific windows. They are now cleaner and more intuitive, modern and uncluttered, as you can see:
Inbox: Organize your tasks with a redesigned inbox that highlights your most important notifications and offers a side-by-side view of related work.
Home: the home page can now be customized - it's about time! It automatically puts your most important work first, and the context you need to immerse yourself more quickly in your business.
AI & Search with ClickUp 3.0
With a new design and an assistant powered by AI (artificial intelligence) assistant now directly integrated into ClickUp, you'll see time-saving potential everywhere:
ClickUp AI: save time by automatically generating creative ideas, summarizing long texts and improving your writing skills (and that's just for starters, ChatGPT watch out!).
Universal search: instantly find any file not only in ClickUp but also in connected applications (e.g. Google Drive, Slack, Figma).
Command Center: Create keyboard shortcuts that let you act on anything, anywhere.
Global action bar: Get quick access to key jobs and content with a toolbar that knows what you need.
As we've all heard, AI is likely to be the hot topic of the year. As a result, all software must embrace it and adopt or integrate it to some extent. We can't wait for you to discover and play with ClickUp AIbecause you'll see how easy and straightforward these features are. For example, if this sounds abstract to some of you, imagine you hold weekly meetings and take notes. Absent colleagues will be able, thanks to AI, to get a one-paragraph summary of your hour-long meeting. This may not be rocket science to some, but it's at the heart of productivity: performing routine tasks and projects more efficiently. At LANE Digital Consulting, we believe thatAI is and will continue to be an excellent tool for doing this (a tool, not a solution!).
More intuitive collaboration tools
ClickUp says: "If you can think it, you can build it". You'll be able to manage it better and with more granularity thanks to the most powerful and customizable of ClickUp :
Canvas and Cards: Convert ClickUp into a dynamic surface that you can personalize with moving cards that let you visualize the work your way (managers, we're talking to you!);
Custom task types: As a task manager, create custom task types to represent just about anything you want to manage in ClickUp (accounts, folders, projects, people...). In our training courses, we explained that tasks could be anything you wanted them to be, as long as you defined them with SOPs. No need for SOPs now, everything will be clearer!
Enhanced automation: manage a wide range of use cases with advanced logic and new actions. What's more, automations are triggered in real time (no need to refresh manually!).
Conditional Logic element in forms: you'll now be able to build smarter forms that can handle your most complex workflows.
Custom field manager : Manage, edit and search custom fields in one place.
ClickUp 3.0 opens up the range of possibilities: that's what we want! Nothing new here, but some useful improvements for us.
Thanks to Canvas and Cards, views will no longer be the solution to all our challenges. As before, to filter information, customize fields, display tasks in different visual representations, and get a funnel view of a department or projects, views were the cornerstone of ClickUp workspace success. Canvas and maps will enable information to be displayed according to type, importance and so on.
We'll gain in intuitiveness, but also in ease of implementation. This may have an impact on the training courses we offer our customers. It will either allow us to allocate more time to training, or to devote more time to the complexity of ClickUp configuration. Either way, it's a win for all of us.
The same applies to custom task types andtask automation automation. Whereas before we had to get out of ClickUp and create synergies with Make (a silver partner by the way), certain automations can now remain in ClickUp, which will save us installation time and be easier for customers to access. This is great news!
Finally, with regard to conditional logic in formswe're delighted that this feature has also been added, as many of our customers have been asking for it. Imagine you have forms in your ClickUp for recruitment purposes. Previously, you had to create one form for each job offer. Now, your first question will be which position the candidate is applying for. From this first question, conditional logic will be implemented, leading to +10 different forms. This will streamline your recruitment process in a way we could never have imagined before this new version!
With regard to the custom fields managerwe've already seen some companies reach the existence of +1000 custom fields, while repeating the same custom field x50 times due to a lack of communication and/or best practices throughout the workspace. This created frustration, wasted time finding the right custom field, and weakened automation since it couldn't rely on the same custom field... This will now become much easier, although best practices will still be necessary, of course.
What's the next step with ClickUp 3.0?
We can confirm that ClickUp 3.0 will be launched in two phases: From early March 2023 , Clickup will roll out the ClickUp 3.0 experience to beta workspaces and will increase the speed of invitations to those on the waiting list over the coming weeks.
Then, the general roll-out of version 3.0 took place in April, and the "migration" of workspaces in June 2023.
ClickUp 3.0 is a milestone in terms of quality improvement, finalization of existing functionalities and future innovations.
